At the site Cow linked me to........they call it Virtual Bouncer...that's it. I had never heard of it before.

Do the popups come from the internet [i.e. do you have a browser open when it happens?].

Yes. And then once they're on board, I can only shut down by hitting the reset button. Slowly but surely, my PC slows down til eventually it freezes or crashes.

That's what I couldn't figure out......why was it draining my resources so badly. Typically, 75% of my resources are free when I am online.

Gottfried, I got rid of Virtual Bouncer but now I've got new garbage popping up.

Now I'm worried.........4 spy/ad ware scans and an uninstall and I can't get rid of the stuff. Somewhere I saw where you can manually go thru your registries. I think I may have to resort to that move.
