Yes - this generation meant those people who heard Him. At hand and quickly meant quickly In the day you eat meant that very day. All the enemies of Christ have been subdued - they are finished. God did not change the teeth of lions into flesh ripping instruments after the fall - man was made from dust and destined to return. None of us has a "lock on scriptural truth" but some things are just plainly literal if you will allow the scriptures to say what they say and forget your church dogma. Jesus in Matthew 23 said this to the pharisees - real living men... 32 Fill ye up then the measure of your fathers. {Fathers = previous generations} 33 Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the damnation of hell? {ye generation = the generation to which Christ was sent} 34 ¶ Wherefore, behold, I send unto you prophets, and wise men, and scribes: and some of them ye shall kill and crucify; and some of them shall ye scourge in your synagogues, and persecute them from city to city: {send you = those to whom Christ was speaking} 35 That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel unto the blood of Zacharias son of Barachias, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar. {upon you = those to whom Christ was speaking} {blood of Abel TO THE BLOOD of Zacharias = all the prophets who had ever been slain by the wicked until that time or generation} 36 Verily I say unto you, All these things shall come upon this generation. {this generation DOES NOT MEAN a future generation} History witnesses that God did Judge Israel within a Generation (40 years) and that "not one stone was upon another of the temple" This is not rocket science = it is just that men are in love with church instead of Christ and His Biblical Truth !!! The Holywood style of return of Christ is a man made fable. Making "this generation" to mean something other than the generation to whom Christ was speaking is done to fit preconceived end time myths. Do not be angry at me for not joining you in it And do not be so smug about my having a "lock" on such simple truths. They are there for anyone who has the ears to hear above the noise of the churches and 'Christian' book stores. Brian
