Thousands died in France, during WWI. Did American troops die in France, so that America could get control over some of Turkey's old Arab Territories? Did the United States send troops to Europe in the First World War, to take over Germany's African Colonies? Hmmmmm.......are we really that selfless? I wonder. For years, we resisted going into the second world war until we were attacked by Japan. And guess what, Japan was an ally of Germany. Besides, Europe was on its knees. It became very clear even to isolationist Americans, that Hitler had to be stopped. After all, once Hitler had conquered Europe and Russia who do you think he would have gone after next? Did the United States fight in North Africa and France in World War II to colonize Algeria and France? Is that what good allies do? Take the colonies of their allies? You have an interesting philosophy. Why do our French (and our other European) "friends" seem to think that they are so special, that Americans would die for their liberation and freedom, but not for the freedom of others. I never saw where the Europeans thought they were "special". They just didn't agree with Bush's very controversial decision to go after Saddam.......apparently with good reason seeing the hell we've gone through this past year. You know allies can disagree with each other.......that's allowed.Did Americans die in Korea, because they won South Korea from the Japanese, and viewed South Korea as a Territory? Did the United States send troops to Vietnam for oil, or to recolonize the country? Did American troops go to Somolia for Imperialistic reasons - to colonize Somolia? Yet suddenly, when its Iraq, it's about extending an American Empire, and colonizing Iraq for its oil. I know this may come as a surprise to you but looking at the facts after 9/11, attacking Saddam did not appear to be the logical next step in the war on terror. Whenever someone does something out of the ordinary and when it runs in the face of logic, people speculate as to what the real motivation is. Ergo......Mr. Bush has a strong background in oil. Iraq has the second largest reserves in the world. The world is running of out oil. The US is heavily dependent on oil. The ME is a major source of our oil. The ME is very unstable politically. You do the math!
