Bush has secret plan to slash veterans’ medical care by $1.9 billion over next two years: A memo revealed by the Washington Post found that Bush has already been planning veterans cuts for fiscal year 2006: “…veterans’ medical care … would be cut in 2005 by about $380 million… Veterans’ medical care would then be cut an additional $1.5 billion in 2006… for a total cut of $1.9 billion over two years.” [Source: Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, 6/1/04; and Washington Post, 5/28/04]
