It's interesting that Kerry camp strategists considered the story most likely to grab news headlines(post Reagan funeral) was John McCain's final refusal of VP slot. They had the entire wk to plan their first post- funeral move, and decided to leak the McCain refusal. IMO that story carries more negative baggage than positive spin.
