Our move into Iraq, first ousted a murdering dictator AND provided the battlefield for the War on Terror. See, we denied them their 1st choice location for their announced war on us. Why were we in Vietnam? --It was the midst of the Cold War, Russia, through surrogates was spreading oppressive communism anywhere it could gain a foothold. The USA both in Korea & Vietnam was trying to stem the tide of what was called the red menace. Who knows how quickly the cancer would have spread without the surgical attempts to stop it's progress in various spots around the world. If communism was allowed to flourish without a challenge, possibly the USSR would indeed have gained the world domination that was it's goal in a strategy called, if I'm not mistaken, the domino theory. Why did we invade Grenada? --There was a bloody coup & the leaders threatened to harm American medical students. The military was sent in to rescue the students. Why did we invade Panama? --Noriega was heavily involved in smuggling illegal drugs into the U.S. During the War on Drugs, the U.S. imprisoned Noriega who was one of the most powerful kingpins. >>Don't mention D-Day in the same breath with any of the wars I've just noted.<< Why not? Hitler was a tyrant who was menacing the world. Communism menaced the world as well;Hussein was another tyrant who invaded his neighbor & kept the Mid-east in turmoil; lives were saved in Grenada & who knows how many children were NOT seduced by drug pushers after Noriega's operations were curtailed.
