And I don't particularly like the little I do know about him.

But I think you're misreading my post, or perhaps reading too much into it. It was not an endorsement of Berlusconi, or fascism, or Mussolini, but a very simplistic explanation of why Italy has sided with the US on Iraq. I'm fairly sure that under any other leader, Italy would not have done what it did.

How can anyone dislike Italy?

The French? Yes, easy to dislike. The Russians, a little less than the French. But the Italians? How can anyone dislike them?

How can anyone get upset with the nation that gives us Michaelangelo, Leonardo, and Oriana Fallaci?
