You are making my point better than i could nadine. Forget the screams of the left--even with more force we had to back away from falujah and najaf.
The real question going forward is how far we go with this new iraqi regime. There comes a point when a lack of iraqi committment to take out the bad guys puts us into a similar situation as vietnam. Nixon became president and 20k more americans died and then we got the deal in 1972 than was probably less than the deal we could have gotten in 1968. We may want to elect a president who if things continue to go badly will have the backbone to extricate us from iraq. mike
