Joe- It says Socket 478. I imagine you need a BIOS.

Newegg also lists

Intel Pentium M 745 1.8 GHz, 400MHz FSB, on-die 2MB L2 Cache - Retail

Specifications:
Model: Intel Pentium M
Core: Dothan
Operating Frequency: 1.8GHz
FSB: 400MHz
Cache: L1/32K+32K; L2/ 2MB
Voltage: 0.956V-1.052V
Process: 0.09Micron
Socket: Socket 478

at $429.00 vs $299.00 for the 1.7GHz.

Both must be awfully fast. The only advantage for the P4 I see is HyperThreading.

Joe- More about Pentium M posted on this forum:

The Pentium M doesn't have the same pin layout as the P4's. They're in slightly different locations so it won't physically fit into a P4 board, not to mention the pins don't have the same signal assignments. So far the only Pentium M desktop boards are a scant few mini itx units.

Don't know where the information comes from.
