I don't know what interest(s) you have, or believe you have, in the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but I don't have one/any.

Whether the various parties were to come to a lasting peace tomorrow or fight viciously for one hundred more years has no impact upon me in and of itself. It's unfortunate, but the list of unfortunate situations in the world is a long list indeed. On the other hand, and whether or not it's well-intentioned: once our government - any government - begins to provide financial aid, reward concessions, or offer incentives, we're involved, en masse.

The quickest and most genuine solutions are those that the parties arrive at not because of coercion, but because of the absence of it: when there's nowhere to go, the respective populations exhausted, and there's more to gain by coexisting, they will by necessity come to some solution.

[A]s a reward for [Israel]...coming to a peace settlement, we should fork...over [$4 billion dollars].

As if there wasn't enough evidence, this article depicts exactly why I am against giving Israel (or any foreign country, for that matter) a penny of U.S. taxpayer monies, regardless of the heady goal or purpose it's ostensibly tied to.

Iranian Defense Minister Ali Shamkhani:

"Where Israel is concerned, we have no doubt that it is an evil entity, and it will not be able to launch any military operation without an American green light. You cannot separate the two."

I don't care about Israelis or Iranians; nor do I care about their respective methods of energy generation, or what weapons they have.

Nor am I anywhere near convinced that if Iran had tens or hundreds of intercontinental ballistic missile silos ready to go - a tall order indeed, but still - that they would otherwise have any interest whatsoever in attacking us.

But yet, our bureaucratic overlords are rattling sabres even as I type this, and consequently I...and you...are now very much a part of this conflict. Why?
