Just came back from my family vacation touring Eastern Canada. Only two days while in Montreal were rainy days. We considered ourselves pretty lucky. Canadian are nice and friendly even a highway policeman. Yes. I got a speeding ticket with an Ontario plated SUV from a French Canadian policeman. I questioned his authority. He replied with huge smiles and said in broken English with "see my gun, my badge and my uniform" "I am a policeman!". Well. I got that ticket. However I know fully that other "Quebec plated" cars were not stopped because I drove with the flow on Highway 401 among other cars. Later I decided to followed my daughter's order by driving 100 KM/hour. Then I saw my Ford Explorer ate dusts from those tiny "Quebec plated" cars. It was pretty funny I was even passed by those cargo trailers!!! OK. When can Quebec become independent like Taiwan? (g) That way those French Canadians will treat your Ontario citizens even nicer than now. I was in Quebec for three days. Those store clerks refused to answer us back in English though I knew fully they understood our English. Overall we had great experiences in Eastern Canada. We visited Toronto, Kingston, Montreal, Quebec, Ottawa, and Niagara Falls. My daughter was specially interested in Upper Canada Village. We will visit a similar one in Boston (USA) next time. There are so many Chinese populations over there. I thought I was in San Francisco or Vancouver. We have visited Vancouver and Victory Island many times. We will visit Calgary and Edmonton areas next time. BH

O.T.- spots- that just about covers it. excellent précis. not to denigrate used car salesmen, but that's what layton reminded me of. 'tis a pity, because i believe he is far superior to how he appeared. as far as predictions go, its a tough call, but i think the liberals will form a minority government and the ndp will have influence. crocodile had an excellent thought: while I was listening to them speak, I was thinking that, if you locked these 4 guys in a room somewhere for a week or so, and let them work on ideas, I think they could do a lot of good for the country. it's a good idea <g> -rose
