Thank you, your method below worked...
even I was able to do it.

Now how about one more...
I upgraded a program and it put it's little icon over in the right side near the clock. I would prefer not having that one but cant seem to find a way to get rid of it. Any ideas?

Thanks again
Hal

<< Take any desktop icon and hold down a rightclick and drag the icon down to the Quicklaunch toolbar (that's what that area is called). Drag the icon around until you see a vertical black line appear. Let up on the mouse and choose copy from the dropdown menu
If you want to add a shortcut to a program whose icon is not on the desktop you can go to program files and rightclick the actual program .exe and do the same rightclick drag. When you get to the QuickLaunch toolbar choose create shortcut from the choices when you release the mouse button instead of copy.

You might try right clicking the desktop and experimenting wih the icon arrangements. Could be a setting you accidentally changed >>
