You dont understand our system in terms of the energy business. It is very complex, deregulated and even the administrative branch doesn't have any real power over it unless they happen to be Cheney and Bush, two energy oil honchos. The Petroleum Institute is supposed to be a non-partisan, honest, patriotic institution which voluntarily provides accurate info and help to the White House, but in 2000 for the first time ever they had two former oil CEO's running for the White House and they turned strictly partisan, stonewalling Clinton-Gore and gladly helping to gouge us, boost Cheney-Bush and push further deregulation. Enron was the brains (or one of them) behind all this, engineering a system they could "game" and control, creating phanton trades, bottlenecking energy, creating phony shortages, jacking up the price in different ways, and it was not just electricity, but gasoline and NG too, all at once. Moore than a dozen major Bushie companies were in on the free-for-all including Jim Baker's Reliant. Enron, Reliant, Halliburton, etc. all of these companies are connected to Bush and Cheney in one way or another. Together they ripped us all off for some 100 billion, then Enron hired Ed Gillespie to wage a PR disinformation campaign backed by 6-7 million in TV ads to blame it all on democrats. Gillespie did such a good job he helped oust Grey Davis, and was then promoted to head the RNC.
