Joe, you're right, of course. It looks like 2.6GHz 130nm parts are possible, and I'd bet they will still be within the 89W TDP threshold established back at the Opteron launch (actually, even back then, certain tables in tech docs went from 1.4 GHz up to 2.6GHz)

Perhaps Elmer is confusing AMD's 130nm process with Intel's 90nm process. It looks like Intel isn't getting much out of that, with essentially no 3.6 GHz parts until at least September, and 3.4 GHz parts continuing to be extremely rare through August.
