Israel uses American aid to help it deter or defeat agression from more populous Arab powers. Is THAT what Israel is doing now, with the jet fighters other military equipment that US finances for it? Which aggressive and populous Arab countries is Israel fighting right now? I would be very interested to know. The smaller Israel's population is the greater its need for aid would be. That is not logical - if there was only one Israeli left in Israel, would he need all the money in the world? In fact, quite the opposite is probably true - The higher the population of Israel (imagine more immigrants from Russia, Europe, US, etc), the higher their need to build settlements into lands that are outside their boundaries will be. That will increase the military power they will need to occupy and oppress the additional people they have have deplaced and/or royally pissed off. Hence, more money needed from the American taxpayer.

the answer is: without question we are very generous to Israel in economic and military aid why? no other people have suffered so much for so long - scattered and living in exile for two millennia they kept alive their dream of Israel with the prayer, 'next year in Jerusalem' persecution culminated in Hitler's 'final solution', the massacre of six million jews the holocaust underlined the moral basis for Israel's founding a tiny island of democracy surrounded by 22 hostile Arab monarchies and dictatorships that did not recognize their right to exist - many even vowing to destroy it a strong and loyal ally in a region that is vital to all the world, an oil region - a region under siege by radical Islamists and terrorists even Israel's strongest supporters in American don't agree with every Israeli policy but at the end of the day, America will continue to support Israel - economically and morally
