That Intel acts more like a covered-call-writer, instead of a naked-call writer, is pure conjecture IMO.

If I accumulate shares over time I can call my broker and instruct him to sell the old ones. I see no reason why Intel shouldn't do the same.

Besides, that's not the FASB methodology for expensing options anyway.

That's part of the reason there is disagreement.
