Ten,

re: Moore may not be president, but he ought to keep some standard of intellectual honesty if he wants to be taken seriously by anyone who hasn't entered the movie theater with preconceived notions.

The same could be said about any newspaper op-ed piece or editorial, and we know how one sided those get on both sides.

I suspect you wouldn't complain so much if it was a movie critical of Kerry.

John

Ted, MM is not president nor is it a flip flop. It worries me that you don't see these important distinctions.

Moore is presenting his piece of propaganda as a "documentary." The Democrats are presenting it as reasons why they should take power and kick Bush out of office. And many will be convinced and motivated to take political action against the president.

So what? You all present MM as if he were a clown. Why so threatened?

Moore may not be president, but he ought to keep some standard of intellectual honesty if he wants to be taken seriously by anyone who hasn't entered the movie theater with preconceived notions. Which, come to think of it, aren't going to amount to many.

Have you seen the movie? If so, I haven't......so I have no idea about what you're talking. And if you haven't seen film, then how do you know that he hasn't maintained a "standard of honesty"?

After all, Gibson's Passion was somewhat less that an honest portrayal of JC's last days but you loved it. So why don't you wait until you see the film......if you haven't done so.

As for the "flip-flop," it should be obvious. Moore, having first considered Osama innocent, is now basing his entire movie on the premise that Osama is guilty, and only to accuse Bush of failing to pursue the guilty. But I can understand why you don't consider it a "flip-flop," and it all has to do with using other people's standards to judge them. Fortunately for Moore, he doesn't burden himself with a standard of his own.

You know I can't address something when I don't have the knowledge of the subject at hand. Again, if you've seen the movie, then you may be right re. the above. However, I have seen only a clip.

Notice Bush just flipflopped on N. Korea and Iraq both?
Wasn't Bush the one calling Kerry a flip-flopper? I still know of no issue besides capital punishment for terrorists which Kerry has changed his stance on in the past three years. Maybe Bushies are being too nuanced.

PS: Moore's film is a documentary. Almost all documentaries are trying to make a point. The documentary the GOP will show at the convention about Bush's "triumphs" will be a documentary. As for propaganda, we have 45 rightwing radio hosts spewing it out 7 days a week and almost no counterparts. We'd need 10 Moore just to start to balance out the Limbaughs of the world. Also, if Bush were honest, Moore would not have made this film.
