that is eirily reminicsent of what people said about Reagan during the cold war. He was stuborn, and arogent, and the USA should engage the Soviet Union. It takes arogence, and convction to face down a fear that many would choose to hide from(like Europeans). The world sat tight when Hitler murdered Jews, The sat tight when Malosavic murdered, The list goes on. America in its 200 years has been the country to try to be a force of good in a treacherous world. The Islamic fundimentalists would have attacked someone somewhere. They dispise the west and fear its influence as a destructive force. This was against terrorism was inevitible. America has had the forsight to take the lead as usiall. I dont agree that IRAQ was a great idea for the reasons stated. However in the theory of setting up a democratic encampmewnt and Ally in that area in Theory it was a good idea gone bad. Mostly do to bad execution. If we had sucesfully won over the Iraqi's then they could have been a bulkhead to deal with Iran, SA, Afghan and the middle east in general. Also removing pressure on Isreal. Which I will reming is the only real Democracy in the middle east, and a staunch ally for 50 years. If America cant defend the democratic way, then what use is all this power and might we have. Also for all you bush haters, Clinton said he would have done the same thing, going into IRAQ under the scenario we were under in 2002.
