WalMart and their ilk cost US good jobs and wipe out mom and pop stores wherever they go. They do save you money but it's a lousy trade-off.

>>>I think Wal Mart is great. They save me bucks and have about everything you need in their supercenters, including groceries. I need and enjoy saving money.
Like Target too.<<<

SiouxPal,

See what happens when you think for yourself and don't toe the party line...Shame on you!

Well, unlike you, there are those of us who would like to support their local community and local merchants, even if it costs a little more, rather than a corporate cancer like Wal Mart.

Apparently some folks have trouble with the fact that Wal-Mart is so successful. With that success is the ability to buy in huge quantity, thereby keeping prices down, benefiting the consumer.

I posted some months back to Am. Spt. on this, asking, isn't it a good thing that there is a store down there that keeps prices low, thereby allowing the secretary who makes $20,000 a year stretch the paycheck further?

Not sure why people love to hate this successful company so much.

As a practical matter, Costco does the same thing. They dominate in certain areas, and buy in huge quantities. Companies that want to do business with Costco have to meet rigid requirements for packaging, delivery, etc. Is this bad? Don't think so.
