If I remember correctly your original question was why no IS on the SLR bodies and the answer is because it is in the lenses.

Good lenses are expensive. You have to decide between Pro or Prosumer. The Canon SLR bodies alone range from $1300 to $8000. Lenses go from under $100 to several $1000. Guess it is all relative to the need. If you're a Pro Photographer then price is no option. If not you get point and shoot.
