You do understand that the Persian Gulf is our national jugular vein?

I do understand that. But, does it really have to be? I mean, we could do a lot more to lessen our dependence on that region. I paid $6.00/gal for gas in England in 2001 due to high taxation, and we can't even raise the gas tax a nickle to save some gas? There are plenty of other strategies we could persue besides the old petrol economy. But, why would all those oil men running our government want to do such a sensible thing and kill their lifeblood? They don't and won't, so we continue our dependence on Mid East oil. It won't last forever though. A few more decades and we'll be forced to look for alternatives to oil.
