With 2/3 of the worlds oil in the gulf region, we will be fighting wars and struggling with control of this resource as it price rises and supply shrinks.

We can do allot now to become more efficient, but we will still be 100% dependent on the free flow of this fungible commodity from the Mideast.

The USA uses 25% of all petroleum, the other 90+% of the planet is working very hard to increase their demand of oil.

If Al Qaeda gets control of the gulf region we wont be talking about $6 oil which is 80% taxed, but $100 gasoline with 95% going to the terrorists.

We need a race for alternative energy similar to the space race- and if we have to pay 6 bucks a gallon, or 10, it would be worth it (imo). Some day we have to find alternative fuels- responsible people plan ahead. Responsible people would be doing the heavy work NOW.
