<<agreed. and agnostic as well.

personally, i believe that both atheists and the religious are equally arrogant. both claim to have THE answer.>>

This is a popular misconception.

Atheism simply means without theism.

A theist makes a positive act, a leap of faith, to believe in some kind of god or gods.

An atheist doesn't make that leap. An atheist is simply without belief in a god or gods.

Let's say we're talking about alien abductions. Some people believe they are happening, some don't. Those that don't believe they are happening don't claim to know for a fact they are not, they just don't believe they are.

You're right in one sense.... Atheists who claim absolutely that there is no "creator" of any kind, I think, need to prove their claims. I don't think there are many atheists of that type. I'm of the opinion, however, that most think like I do, ie we are not smart enough to know that answer, but will accept the fact that, compared to most, we are atheistic. We accept no gods, saints, angels, human divinities, etc. because we have not been convinced of their existence. If you have such proof, you can make a believer out of many. Maybe the Deists are right, ie there was a creator or power of some sort who got the whole thing started, but they don't think that entity exists any longer and they never believed in a personal god.

BTW, when you find the person who has THE answer, worship him or her....

"both atheists and the religious are equally arrogant. both claim to have THE answer"

Why not just state that you don't like arrogant people? There are some (many) on both sides. But that way it does not come across as prejudiced. To me at least.
