i've found that conservatives often tend to view themselves as the "heart" of america, therefore it follows that any ire directed at them is typically labeled anti-american. i would like to know what america you are referring to when you say that you "love the place"... it sounds to me like what you mean is that you love some idealized version of this place, where your beliefs form the core of our society. i think there are very few americans who hate america, people just have different views as to which values should be the most cherished and protected.
