Americans know far less about the world outside our country

And therefore international news does not get good ratings, so it's hardly shown, so Americans know less...

I think part of the reason is it's harder to get out of our country than to get out of most.

If you're in England you can take the chunnel to France.

For me to even get out of Florida would take an all-day drive.

The education rankings were very depressing- Americans are not the stupidest people on the planet, but they are way down there in terms of their smarts in math, science and geography- and our literacy rates aren't that great either. So while Moore may have overstated, it wasn't by much.

I suppose he could have said "We are the 31st smartest in math..."- which actually sounds pretty much like what he did say :-)
