I don't, but we aren't talking about patriotism here, we're talking about what is good for the U.S. economy in the long run.

You and others think that buying U.S. made goods is a way to be patriotic, but it's really a very small way to make an impact. Especially now that the economy is so intertwined with the global economy, the old paradigms don't work anymore. For instance, you may buy an American car thinking that you are doing the U.S. economy some good, but you don't realize that many of the parts are made in Mexico.

At the end of the day, trying to save jobs which are moving downscale is like pissing into a typhoon to try to hold it at bay. It's futile. A more productive focus is ensuring our government doesn't neglect our schools and our higher learning institutions. In addition, we should ensure that our government doesn't erect artificially barriers which make it difficult for our companies to move resources around the world frictionlessly. It may feel good and patriotic in the short term, but it's bad for our economy in the long run. These are the foundations of success for the U.S. economy.

If you want to know what the effects of a highly frictioned economy, ask the Russians. They'll tell you how stifled they were under the Communist regime.

<<In fact that was the deciding factor in buying an expensive road bike earlier this year. Trek still makes their frames here in the US.>>

Well if made in the USA was your deciding factor, you lucked imo, because TREK OCLV carbon technology is the best in the world, bar none, imho---if you are looking for a carbon bike.
