I was watching an old movie the other night "follow the river" when it suddenly occurred to me. Except when they needed us the FRENCH have NEVER been our allies.
French and Indian War--ANTI COLONIALIST
Revolutionary War--Only sided with USA when it was nearly over and then only cause it could cause problems for British (their enemy) and prodding by Lafayette.
First World War--We saved THEIR ass at their begging.
Second World War--MORE OF THE SAME in fact we fought them in the landings in N. Africa.
Vietnamese War--We supplied them till they proved they just couldnt win, then we took over for them.
Korean War--My brother was there throughout, mentioned EVERYONE BUT THE FRENCH.
Cold War--French bowed out of Nato UNTIL the West had won.

So, in summary, with friends like the French WHO NEEDS ENEMIES. I have joined in the Boycott and will continue to boycott French products REGARDLESS of what OUR politicians say. jdn

"More like adversaries. High time they get booted from the Security Council and let Japan or India take their place.."

It was a mistake allowing them back in to NATO so they can continue to screw the US.

Beyond their treaty obligations, they sometimes stick it to us just to establish their independence, yes. On the other hand, Chirac is one guy, with poor poll numbers, so maybe we should wait and see.........
