I agree.

You can only disapprove the thing when there is a good case that it is present. To leap to the conclusion that it is present just because it might be is evidence, whether conclusive or not, of prejudice.

Sure, it's bias. But for or against what? If you see a Jewish woman with a black eye and leap to the conclusion that her husband hit her, against what or whom is that prejudice? Is that anti-semitism? Maybe. Probably not.

My argument with Bill was with his assertion that, in making such a statement, the bigotry is "obvious." I think we're in grey territory. When you're in the grey territory between bigotry and PC, straying in either direction has risks.

In jumping to the conclusion that it's anti-semitism, remember: "To leap to the conclusion that it is present just because it might be is evidence, whether conclusive or not, of prejudice."
