A lot of people have their self-image tied into their country.

For some reason you tend to see expressions of patriotism more on old beat up cars than on Mercedes or Jaguars. The people who have nothing derive some feeling of self-worth from the perceived greatness of the nation.

The rich people, on the other hand, know it is all about money. They don't particularly care what country they are living in so long as their wealth is safe.

It's funny that on the message boards the people who most strongly express their patriotism tend to be the people who most often express their hatred for their fellow Americans.

Before I got banned from the PGWB board I posed the question of how you can claim to love America if you regularly express disdain for democrats, who are 40% of the nation's population.

Since a nation is only as great as its people, if 40% of the people in America suck, then the only rational conclusion to be drawn is that America itself sucks.

Never got a satisfactory response to that one.
