Technology stocks have been flat for a long time now,

Wrong again. Look at a one year chart for the SOX. It goes from 300 up to 470 over 7 months and back down to 368 in the past 5 months. That's a 50%+ gain followed by a 30% dip. It's certainly not "flat for a long time now".

finance.yahoo.com

Tech stocks as a whole have been flat for the first 6 months of 2004, but within tech some segments are zooming (cell phones, internet, wireless telecom equipment) and others are in the tank (anything supply chain related).

its time some of these stocks started moving

Wrong again! Monday is a holiday - nothing is moving until Tuesday!

Hi Lizzie, I think the stocks will move, but don't get hopeful until after the election. No one is going to risk bidding up stocks prior to a tight election race, especially with the serious threat of terrorism waiting in the wings. Just remember what happened in Spain.

So the smart people are sitting on any new cash they have waiting until Sept to Oct for a good buying opportunity. I personally am sitting on a bunch of cash until right after the election and then I'll invest.
