Baron, Sally
STOUGHTON - Sally Baron, age 71, of Stoughton, died Monday, Aug. 18, 2003, after struggling to recuperate from heart surgery. The daughter of Louis and Evelyn (Morris) Sybeldon, and sister of Jean (Bettagnoli), Bill, Tom and Jim, she was born and raised in the Hurley area. Bill survives. She married James "Slugger" Baron, and was the mother of Jeff (died of leukemia at age 21), Jim (Jen), Joe (Robyn), Judy (Dave LeClair), Maureen (Mike Bettilyon) and Pete; grandmother to Kyle, Andy and Reid (Maureen's), Jessica and Megan (Judy's), Lukas and Kassie (Joe's), and Fletcher, Leslie and Craig (Jim's). She lived her married life in Montreal, Wis., and moved to Stoughton to be closer to family after Slugger's death. She missed her friends "up north" but made many new friends in Stoughton. Sally attended college in Superior. She worked outside the home as an assembly worker, waitress, cook and dietician. Mostly, she took care of her family, especially Slugger, who got around better than he should have after a debilitating mining accident in 1969. She learned to cope with life's trials with laughter and smiles. She also held dear the Bertagnoli family of Janesville; in-laws and their families; various relatives; grand-dog, Scout; and the Packers. A memorial service will be held at COVENANT LUTHERAN CHURCH, Stoughton, at 1 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, 2003. Graveside services in Hurley will be held at a later date. Memorials in her honor can be made to any organization working for the removal of President Bush. Cress Funeral Service 6021 University Ave. (608) 238-8406 www.cressfuneralservice.com,

Quit slandering John Kerry. The lies of the rightwing are really piling up. Just because Bush cannot run on his record or policies don't lie about JK. Let's look at the facts:

Kerry weak on defense? Hardly. Voted for the biggest defense budgets in history, FOR every defense system the Bushies claim he voted against and is a Silver Star war hero and military expert. Bush was an AWOL draft-dodger. Cheney also dodged the draft. McCain came to JK's defense saying Kerry is definitely not weak on defense. To the contrary.

Kerry will raise taxes? Only if you're rich. Any other claims are just lies of the rightwing. Pure lies.

Kerry fli-flops? Not nearly as much as Bush and not on any major issues, just flipped once on capital punishment for terrorists, after 9-11. Fair enough. Kerry does however want to fix a few Bush programs which were slipped past an unsuspecting congress with a lot of costly fine print in them. Like his dishonest Medicare Bill and his education bill. The Patriot Act, Kerry agrees with ultra rightwing Senator Craig from Idaho. It needs a little fixing. None of those are flipflops, they're just fix-ups.

Ann, it should be very ironic for you that Kerry's announcement of picking John Edwards as his running mate is being made in his heiress' town of Pittsburgh. The announcement is coming live over the wires as I send you this message. Wish you all the best in your support of the Bush-Cheney ticket.

Democrats are smart. They always knew that Kerry's message would also resonate with the Americans along with that of Kerry.

BRING IT ON.
