<<One factor, I think, was the excessive expectations encouraged by the Clinton Administration.>>

How so?

The Clinton Administration consistently underestimated federal revenue, gdp growth, and job creation. The reality kept blowing away their estimates.

Compare that to Bush Administration economic projections which are consistently too optimistic. So who's pandering excessive expectations to the American people?

And wasn't it Greenspan who, under Clinton, warned of irrational exuberance and kept hiking interest rates in an effort to deflate the bubble?
