So UW, what is the problem then are you saying that many of the volunteers are not smart enough to operate and maintain the equipment that the Army uses?

You did not answer my question about how much training a typical recruit get before boots on the ground in Iraq.

My sons friend joined the USMC right from HS after 9 11. After boot camp and a few weeks of training later he was in Iraq going through Nasirea (sp).

I think the military may be forced to do what the US school system will not do in many areas. Teach people basic skills in order to thrive in the hi tech world.

A few weeks of training before entering a hot zone does not appear to be a significant effort to train the volunteers.
