A few years ago, Jay Chen explained to me that it's really in the world's best interest for the USA to act as the world's policeman and maintain free trade. At least, that's how I remember the gist of what he said.

Given that we have the world's largest GDP, and lots of surplus production capacity over what we need, it seems logical. I mean, for example, we've got 12 aircraft carrier groups, lots of nuclear warheads and submarines and so forth, so it's not like it's a stretch.

Further, it seems preferable for us to do it rather than, say, China or Russia, because we're not only richer than them, we're nicer.

The downside, as you've noticed when you read the PNAC website, is that we've figured out that the easiest way to do this is to make sure that nobody will ever be powerful enough to beat us, ever again.

Not to worry. We're just dumb yahoos, whose only interests in life are pneumatic breasts, NASCAR, and beer. If you lived in a poorer country, your women would be clamoring to marry our men, but Kiwi women seem to prefer Kiwi men, who must be nicer than American men, sexier perhaps, or at least easier to push around. ;^)

Thanks for that link to PNAC propaganda for the Fourth Reich.

This is over the top even for you, Mq.

I read entirely too much similar stuff here. It is the reason I no longer post. It is also the reason for the decline of this formerly fine discussion group, though FL is making a valiant effort to bring it back to its former state.

My message is directed to you because I know you have enough mental flexibility to realize how ridiculous the statement was, though others will howl like chimps in agreement with you.
