I don't think people are being overly sensitive when they interpret 'Likudnik' as an anti-Semitic slur. Cole is implying that Wolfowitz' primary allegiance is to Israel.

But I think people who say that 'neoconservative' is an anti-Semitic slur are being a little sensitive...

We have a right wing in this country that thought it could denude the left of some of its language by invoking the PC label. Unfortunately, it was more successful than it should have been. It drew on excesses, which is the standard operating mode of the anti-PC crowd, to condemn all instances. Thus, it found it self championing the use of serious racial slurs as counter to PC.

I'm trying to sort the cart from the horse in that statement. Seems to me that the excesses were the trigger. Society looked to the victims to define what was racist or anti-semitic or sexist or whatever, from which arose a class of "professional victims," spokesmen in whose interest it was to validate every sensitivity and even make up a few. I do not think that the anti-PC reaction was unreasonable given the unreasonableness of the complaints.

Naturally, not to be outdone in the black and white department, the anti-PC crowd developed its own excesses and its own unreasonableness, but I don't know what you mean by "championing the use of serious racial slurs as counter to PC. Perhaps you could flesh that out for me.

Seems to me that we're in this mess because those who supported the victims validated rather than reined in their excesses. That was the last clear chance to stop this snowball so that's where I'd assign accountability. Which is much of what motivates me to stand up against charges that "Likudnik" is inherently anti-semitic.
