EP, Hats off to you for putting a positive spin on things.

For the king (or queen, as you may) of Canadian gov't beaten-down oil companies, there is always PCZ (PCA.TO). The NDP rumbles about not letting the gov't spin it out but legally Martin doesn't have to pay them any notice. In the meantime, oil goes up, PCZ goes down, despite the McDep buy.

As for PMT, they (along with ARC and VKR) are on the Outperform list at my favorite broker-Peters & Co.

As for my assessment of the gov't I have no excuse, and I misjudged a. the Liberal minority (based on the Canadian pollsters, I thought Conservative Majority/Minority) and b. the extent to which the Bloc's win of Liberal seats might spook the international investor-it didn't, so far.

This minority gov't may not last long, but more of the same is what the investment community likes.

So, I am busy eating crow (mmmm-yummy!) and rotating most of my USD holdings into CDN, as I think the Loonie could crest 80 cents sometime later this year or next. (I'm trying to guess which CDN O & G plays might be the next to turn trust/be bought by a trust-ideas anyone?)
