Besides, what can the US do to threaten India? Tell India that US corporations will no longer ship their jobs to that country?! LOL! Also, India has nukes and maybe even ICBMs... Dipy, I don't think US and India will ever go into war. If it comes to that.. US will try to soften up India in many other ways. There are lot of fault lines in India that could potentially be exploited and abused (don't know how successfully it can be done, but potential is there).
