Funny how we rarely hear or read about the peasant's plight in those US backed "free market" capitalists countries in Central and South America. You know, the ones where we've propped up various right wing dictators over the years. El Salvador, Honduras, Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Colombia, Panama... etc. We've even trained their military in various nefarious methods to insure that the land owning powerful elite class maintains control over their unappreciative citizenry. Even though that is generally considered to be common knowledge, I expect that you'll deny it.<g> But you're right, as you point out, we aren't the only country that has a history of helping suppress the peasantry.
