if you feel protecting the right of mask-wearers libertarians in stores, banks, or god knows what else is the latest and best cause celebre for libertarian thought....have at it...

LOL!

I have to say I agree with your thoughts. Maybe if this person was wearing a ski mask in the middle of a blizzard in winter (not in July), it wouldn't have been such a threatening incident. But I would agree with the case you've made, that most people would feel threatened by this unusual behavior.

Have a great weekend!

I don't think that anything that scares someone else, even if done intentionally amounts to "making a terrorist threat".

have you ever been on the "receiving end" of a gun pointed at you, tim? do you have any clue what it's like to have someone violating your space with an apparent intent to do you harm?

Personal experience with a real or perceived serious threat might be relevant to understanding what went through the minds of the other people in the store. But it isn't relevant to the making a terrorist threat charge. Maybe there should be a law covering concealing yourself in such situations but to my knolwedge most juristictions have no such law.

i can assure you, i'm not going to *wait* for the idiot in the mask to pull his weapon on me...

I wouldn't ask you to wait, except to wait before shooting him, and the thing you wait for doesn't have to be him pulling a gun, but any aggressive action while wearing the mask.

btw, in the immediacy of a threat of an intruder wearing a mask (by definition i consider a mask wearing individual an intruder since they are unwilling to "identify" themselves)

I definitely would consider them a potential threat, but you don't just gun down anyone who is vaguely threatening. The mask wearing would be a factor in a justifiable homicide defense but would not be enough by itself.

you don't call the police to "protect" you, for by then it's too late, you call them to clean up the mess.

You call the police to clean up the mess, or to deal with a situation that isn't immediately violent.
