Now I know you don't want me messing with your CSS file considering I didn't even know what CSS was until I'd written a couple of dozen ASPs.

Make an ADMIN.CSS and move all your CSS stuff to it, include it in each file (I can't remember the syntax -- look at top.aspx), then print it out for reference.

Hey, I'm having to unlearn a lifetime of coding where long, descriptive, self-documenting names were the norm, and programmers were paid by the hour.

In the same way that I'm now unlearning a few years of using a non-compiled language, which made comments burdensome to the CPU. Actually, not really unlearning well. I'm still not commenting anything, even though now I can since ASPX strips them out at compile time.

Similarly, I could have saved three days trying to figure out what a "wordary" was had I been able to locate Bob's Infinite Terms, Etceteras, and Miscellany Explained (BITEME).

Touche! Need a document that includes stuff like...

ter: Class name defining even table rows
tor: Class name defining odd table rows
wordary(): An array in which each element is a word parsed from a text string, such as a search string, message subject, or message text. Used for things such as pre-processing search strings and rebuilding them to exclude noise words or put ANDs or ORs between them, or for spell-checking messages.

Now I'm trying to figure out where you ran into wordary. Must've been in Search, since I'm not even close to implementing a spell-checker.

Dave:

programmers were paid by the hour.

Where did you work, India?

In my 41+ years as a programmer/analyst, I was always salaried. Starting in 1957, with the government (NSA).

For those of you that are adding it up, yes I retired in April of 1999.

Don
