Ann, don't forget that Blair and the Brits are very interested in Iraqi oil. Also don't forget that Britain was a former colonial master of Iraq and that it was the Brits that carved out Kuwait as an independent state.

At present the Brits are very dependent on their North Sea oil. When that is depleted, if they don't have another source for oil, their economy will suffer big time.

It's no wonder Blair supported Bush in the runup to the war. Blair no doubt sees in Iraq a great potential ......

Ann, you are not keeping up with the news it seems. Tony Blair was on the verge of resignation last week but was dissuaded from doing so by four of his colleagues. Isn't a resignation indicative of accepting responsibility for failed policies? He knows well that he did not represent the will of his people in supporting Bush and that is what a true representative democracy is. I think we here in the US are forgetting what democracy is and are going back to fascism similar to what we saw during the Nixon era.

The issues during this election is much more than values and who can wield a gun. It is jobs, economy and security.

Blair has paid a terrible price for backing Bush's dishonesties. He admitted this week he came close to resigning. His party has gone from #1 to #3 in the UK thanks to his backing for the neocon agenda which everyone in Europe knows is dishonest, reckless and has made Al Qaida even stronger. Meanwhile the real problems in Israel and our addiction to Arab oil are ignored by the Bushies. WHy? Because they make a ton of money with the status quo gouging us on energy and profiting off wars.
