Gustave > I guess that the GOP brass (Bush and co) are well aware of that sorry state of affairs: the extent and the penetration --and the frustration-- of the Christian far right are beyond repair, hence the only way to prevent a major domestic political crisis in the US is not to rock the boat and purge the Bible Belt --it's to decoy its nefarious, self-destructive energies ABROAD. That is, towards an alien bogeyman like Bin Laden and Islamic terrorism.

So you say the reason for the invasions of Afghanistan and Iraq is simply to provide an outlet for the frustrations of some KKK-like characters who would otherwise be making trouble in the US. I can't believe it. Sure, I accept the racism and self-righteousness which is inherent in the American personality. Being a "colonialist" myself, I recognize it in me. But as a motivation for a world war or even a series of regional wars, I just can't accept it.

In my opinion, 9-11, Al Qaeda etc took a whole lot of serious and long-range planning, in fact planning over many years, and the only motivation that makes sense for operations like these, which in my view are clearly of the "false flag", Israeli-type, is the PNAC and other writings of the neocons. I have to say, and try as I may not to invoke the NWO or Bilderberg Group etc as the responsible parties, every time I think about who is behind the new conflicts in the Mid East and elsewhere I see their "800 pound gorilla" standing in the room. Maybe it's just a mirage? A figment of my imagination.
