So, as a so-called conservative you're in favor of intrusive all-powerful federal government when it comes to things like medical marijuana? Not a very conservative/limited government position to take. More like authoritarian. I thought Republicans were for things like states rights. Apparently not, as the medical marijuana issue is proving.

I think the federal government has a role to play with the states. States can not pass laws that are unconstitutional. That part of the role is clear. However, if enough states pass a law like legalizing medical marijuana, it comes to a point where the federal government is just thrwarting the will of the people by refusing to change their laws to accomodate the wishes of the people and the states. That's how states rights is suppossed to work. I would support a change in federal law in regards to something like carry a concealed weapon, if enough states were clammoring for such a change. It's a matter of respecting the will of the people.

Before the civil war the states could easily ignore any and all federal mandates and they did. That's the way it was supposed to be. You are obviously a federal employee. But a low level one.
