How would you feel if some of the folks where you dance started sporting them? Or where you walk on the beach? Would you feel more or less comfortable?

If I was in a community where that was common, it wouldn't bother me. If not, it would. We are made uncomfortable by the unusual.

If a criminal walks into a restaurant and sees some of the patrons heeled, he will leave immediately.

I am no longer disconcerted by young ladies on the beach in topless string bikinis. Overjoyed? Of course!

It's a sick community when people feel the need to "pack heat".

It feels much safer to not need the weaponry. But there are times when it has been needed in NZ. It's not like the good old days here now.

How to create a community which doesn't live in fear is something to pursue. Japan is peaceable and feels safe everywhere. Having everyone armed, with metal detectors in courts, schools and public buildings, with security everywhere, is a hell of a way to live.

I would rather not see guns carried openly, but concealed carry laws are fine by me. Crime goes down in states that have that. Imagine if just one patron at the restaurant that was shot up in Kaleen, Texas had a gun available. Or on that subway in New York....

Perhaps you wet your pants too when you the police openly carrying in public as well. The only difference between the police you see and the guy walking his dog is that one guy is dressed in all blue and the other guy is not.
