Specifically, not enough money was put into helping "first responders". In addition, not enough is being done for airline safety, for detection at harbors, the list is a long one.

"The best defense is a good offense." No amount of money can stop these people from getting through. We have to find, fix, and kill them before they get here. That is what we are doing.

But I have no doubt your approach will be used by the left if something does happen.

At usual all this stuff of dichotomies is much, much too simple

I am reminded of an old cartoon, set during the Quebec secessionist fight, where some man is trying to explain to his friend the many subtle, longstanding differences between the Anglophone and Francophone communities of Quebec. But his friend is not really paying attention, since he has noticed the slogan written on the wall before them, which says, "SPEAK FRENCH, ENGLISH DOGS!"

There are arguments to be made about how much money the Feds should pay to police (currently Homeland Security Domestic Preparedness pays out about $4 billion a year, not nothing even in DC), and the police are never going to say its enough.

But. Nuanced arguments about funding police are not what I hear from the left. The Michael Moore crowd (from whom the DNC is notably NOT distancing itself) is all about Saudis, Sharon, OOOOIIIIILLLLL, Haliburton - in short, a complete mish-mash of incoherent conspiracy theories drawn together only by fear and loathing of George W. Bush.

In other words, "SPEAK FRENCH, ENGLISH DOGS!"

Why don't you direct some of your desire for nuance in their direction?
