Redfish,

>The problem is there would be no logical or rational reason for NOT expanding it. In determining whether a class of people is a threat to you, age/sex/race/ethnicity is a factor. For example, you can pretty well rule out asian women in the 40-60 age group as a threat.<

I use statistics to make decisions and judgements every day of my life.

I don't go into neighborhoods where there is a high crime rate even though I am certain there are many wonderful people living there.

I cross the street late at night when a gang of loud and suspicious looking youths is heading in my direction (no matter what their skin color).

I would prefer to hire a person with an education from a top school even though several of the most successful people I know didn't finish college. (including the most successful)

I don't have a problem with expanding it. In fact, I think it is borderline retarded to allow people to get robbed, raped, killed, etc... even slightly more often than necessary in order to not inconvenience a subset of the population that falls into a high risk group under specific circumstances.

IMO, there is only a problem when people are arrested, physically abused, unnecessarily detained etc.... That's what we have to watch out for. Even those that are inconvenienced should welcome the greater security.
