One only needs to briefly read the beginnings of the Christian Church as defined by the Nicene Creed and the constant bickering and disagreements that developed over man's understanding or (misunderstanding) during that early church era. Even then, before Protestanism, groups were splintering off into different positions other than the orthodox belief under the Emperor Constantine.

The church has a pretty poor record of agreement and brotherly love is quite dismal, at best.

It makes one wonder if there ever was a large percentage of Christians that followed the same doctrines.

Perhaps the main problem is that belief has a hard time traveling the 18 inches from head to heart!
