Saddam isn't stupid. His invasion into Kuwait was based on the belief that he could defend it. He got an education as to the US strength. So now he goes 13 years and decides that he can ignore the UN with the US stating that they will invade if he doesn't cooperate. This is AFTER 9/11 and the US going into Afganastan???? Saddam ain't that stupid. His resistance was most likely based on his belief that he had capabilities that had been grown (read WMD) since kuwait, based on the feedback of his own men.
Saying that Bush lied is being disingenuous.

That this mystifies you, then I say wow.

You mention these.....

>>the liberation of Baghdad would be met with flowers
(perhaps many flowers on soldier gravestones)

short war, in & out in a few months
(17 months and counting, with 850 dead soldiers)<<

Bush has NEVER said that this would be a short war. He has always cautioned that this would be long and hard.

I'm sorry I read what you write about lies, but I believe you're stretching. Bush actually said we're going to protect museums??????? The purpose of war is to kill and break things.

Your list isn't compelling sorry.

Thanks
Jim
