Did you see the interview that Katie Coury (sp?) did with Michael Moore? She was acting as the defender of the faith for the entire journalistic establishment. You would have thought she was on the White House payroll.

KT,

I think the press blew it big time in the period prior to the war, but probably not for the same reasons as you. IMO, there were plenty of thoughtful people against the war given ample time to express their opinions in print and on TV.

However, the press didn't make one of the most important observations.

Early on, the neo-cons and the president set a standard for going to war.

When they couldn't meet it, they lowered it.

When they couldn't meet that one, they lowered it again.

When they couldn't meet that one, then they started what turned out to be a BS campaign.

I couldn't see through all the BS (only some of it) because I don't have my own intelligence service. I forgive the press for that one because neither do they.

However it was obvious from day one that the neo-cons had made the decision to invade and weren't going to allow facts and prior standards to interfere with the decision. Someone should have called them on that as it was happening.
