Our "friend" Fitz raised his target for Lam, so earnings MUST have been good....

Lam Research jumps 16 percent after earnings
Thursday July 22, 10:00 am ET

SAN FRANCISCO, July 22 (Reuters) - Lam Research Corp. (NasdaqNM:LRCX - News) shares jumped more than 16 percent on Thursday, a day after the maker of semiconductor production equipment said quarterly earnings more than doubled.
Banc of America Securities raised its investment rating on Lam Research to "buy," citing stronger revenue growth, the company's decision to exit a silicon wafer polishing business, and the reduction in share count from paying back a bond.

Analyst Mark FitzGerald set a $30.70 price target on the shares. Lam stock rose $3.29, or 16.7 percent, to $23.09 on Nasdaq in morning trading.

Meanwhile, shares of Lam rival Applied Materials Inc. (NasdaqNM:AMAT - News) rose 30 cents, or 1.8 percent, to $16.92.
